Thailand - Project Genesis Farm

The Project Genesis farm is located in the Golden Triangle, Northern Thailand, is well on the way to producing its first crops of food and seed. Already 2 acres of corn has been harvested with seed for the next years sowing saved as well as peanuts, assorted vegetables and fruit trees.
Praise be to God for his blessing upon the land and the people who are working the farm. I believe it is no coincidence that God has chosen this particular area to establish our first overseas farm project. The Golden Triangle is notorious for producing opium, which is the raw material for making heroin and other illicit drugs. Over 75% of the world's heroin manufactured comes from this small area of land situated on the Thailand, Burma and Laos border. The misery this drug trade has inflicted upon the local people and throughout the world cannot be fully comprehended. When you think about the destruction that comes upon individuals, families and communities caught up in the addictive drug cycle through such things as family breakdown, violence, crime, suicide etc. you realize the significance of the farm. We as Christians are breaking that cycle in partnership with God. Instead of using the land as a curse upon people, we are using the land as intended to bring a blessing, by producing food instead of drugs.
I'm reminded of a very wise saying I heard a few years ago that spiritual darkness is not so much the result of demonic activity, but rather the absence of light. If you light a tiny candle in a large room. You will find that the light will send its rays, and push back the darkness and that is what we are doing with the Project Genesis farm in Thailand. We are seeing God's light go forth and in the years to come the spiritual darkness that is so prevalent there will flee. Darkness is simply the absence of light, if you have light you don't have darkness, it's a very simple truth. Jesus reminds us of this when he tells us that the light He places within His people and any work ordained to bring to Him glory should shine forth for all to see. So that is why we at Project Genesis are so excited by the commencement of the farm, it's a small beginning but one with its foundation firmly in Christ Jesus.

The purchase of the Kubota tractor has been a real blessing to the farm as it will enable production on a larger scale of various staple foods and vegetables. Currently this seasons crop of rice is in great condition with harvesting expected to commence in October. With God's blessing upon the crop we are expecting to produce about 1000 bushels of rice ( a bushel is about the same size as a small potato sack). This is enough rice to meet the needs a all who live on the farm and give to other orphanages in need. As well a good quantity of seed has been set aside for next years harvest and for distributing to the various villages around the border areas.
One of the problems with rice that you buy commercially in Thailand is that it is polished, it looks terrific to the eye because a machine has scarped all the outer layer of rice grains and left them gleaming white. The problem with this is that much of the nutritional content of the rice grain is taken off. As a consequence of this you do not get the proper outcome for the body energy wise. To overcome this problem we are looking to buy a special rice husking machine that will not leave the rice void of the nutrient content. As well as this we are endeavoring to build a granary which will store the various crops in individual bays, safe from weather and vermin.
Also we are sending David and Paula seed of some food crops they cannot obtain in Thailand such as lentil beans. These beans are a fantastic source of protein and can be used in all types of cooking. You can grind them and make lentil burgers which take the place of meat to a certain extent and they taste great. As well as sending seed we will send some good books especially those with pictures and diagrams and
