Project Genesis Farm - November 2000

David and Paula Mahawon and all the folks at the Project Genesis farm in northern Thailand send their greetings and wish all the people back in Tasmania a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Actually David and Paula have only just got back to the farm in November after travelling some 24,000 miles and visiting 13 states in the United States over a three-month period.
The wet season in Thailand has just finished and planting of new seasons crops is about to begin on the farm. The various buildings that were completed by Thailand project manager Don Hanson on his last trip in July have stood up to the wet season very well. The Project Genesis house, kitchen, grain storage areas and dormitories have all been a tremendous blessing over the wet season. The fish farm, rabbits, ducks and pigs are also doing well. Many crops were harvested before the wet season, these include corn, peanuts, soy bean, chilli, garlic, and many other varieties of vegetables. Seed from these crops have been saved for the next season and stored in the newly constructed granary The orchard with orange, lemon, coconut, banana, mango and paw paw trees are growing well especially after the wet season.
Pastor Bill Penny from Smithton church and Pastor Leo Stossich from Kingborough church will be leading a missions team to travel to the farm at the end of January 2001. They expect to stay at the farm for about 15 days and return to Australia in February. Bill will be building a chicken run and production area so that the farm can be self-sufficient in poultry and eggs. Also it is hoped that they can also sell any surplus at the local market. Bill and Leo will also be preaching and teaching to the Shan people and generally encouraging the orphans and folk at the farm in the things of God. We hope for a real time of relationship building and generally just getting to know one another through the differing cultures. We will let you know how the trip went in the next issue of the Project Genesis newsletter.
Prayer points
- 1. Pray for God's protection to be with all the team as they travel to Thailand and for their safe return in February.
2. Continue to pray for all at the farm and God's protection and anointing
